All over the world, Gimoka fills 16 million cups of coffee a day. But it’s heart is in Italy. In Lake Como to be exact. The company started there almost thirty years ago as a small family-owned roasting house or “casa del caffè”. You can still visit them today to try the different blends fresh from the roasters.
Originally Gimoka supplied cafes and bars in Italy. It begun producing Nespresso compatible capsules after designing its own unique capsule that is not only recyclable, but auto-sealing. Setting it apart from other brands, Gimoka’s capsules have an individual seal that forms an oxygen and moisture-free environment that preserves the coffee’s flavour. You don’t need to keep the capsules wrapped up in the box. They’ll happily sit on your counter unwrapped for months and still produce a perfect espresso.
Unlike most Italian coffee companies, everything Gimoka does is in-house. It deals directly and fairly with growers all over the world and is a member of Café de Colombia and the 4C Association, both world leaders in providing environmentally and economically sustainable coffee. It’s also biologically certified and fair trade.
The coffee beans arrive in Lake Como green. Gimoka doesn’t produce single origin coffee, but blends that have been masterfully crafted by coffee experts to give you the best espresso. Each variety is roasted individually in small batches using artisan methods, cupped (tested for aroma and flavour) and expertly mixed before being sealed in the individual capsules.
From Como to you, Gimoka is serving up Italian bar coffee in your kitchen.
