At L’Emporio, we’re importing the best Italian espresso Down Under. But what about Lavazza you say? Lavazza’s great, but it’s the Toyota of Italian coffee. It’s reliable, good and it’ll get you from A to B, but it isn’t exactly something you write home about.
We discovered Gimoka in a café in Florence during an ill-fated expedition to see Michelangelo’s David. We never found David, but we did find the best coffee of our lives. Gimoka mightn’t sound Italian, but it’s actually as red, white and green as coffee companies come. It’s one of the few Italian coffee companies to do everything in-house. The green beans are sourced fairly and directly from farmers around the world and shipped to Gimoka’s roasting house on Lake Como. From there, they’re masterfully roasted, blended and shipped to cafes and bars all across the country.
Gimoka has recently decided to share its authentic bar coffee with the average Italiano, which is where we come in. Until now, you could only taste Gimoka in bars and restaurants in Italy. But when Gimoka branched out into the home, they didn’t do things by halves. They designed their own system to produce auto-sealing capsules that are compatible with your Nespresso machine at home. It was a natural choice. Nespresso is hugely popular, but their coffee is far from authentically Italian.
These are the only capsules on the market that have an individual heat seal to keep oxygen and moisture out. That’s important because these are coffee’s enemies and destroy its flavour bit by bit until you’re left with brown dirt. You can keep Gimoka’s capsules lying on the countertop forgotten and they’ll still have the same intense flavour they had just after they were roasted far away in Como.
We are the official distributor of Gimoka and Gran Caffé Garibaldi in Australia. We directly import all our coffees from Lake Como to our boutique in Melbourne. From there, it’s up to you. Head to our shop and pick out your favourite. Gimoka doesn’t make single origin coffee, but blends that have been masterfully designed from generations of experience to suit every taste.
Once you’ve chosen, put your order through. We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. Shipping is free for 10 boxes or more, but you can order as little as one box. One box contains 10 capsules.
We ship with Australia Post, so your coffee arrives quickly and intact. For more info about shipping times and prices, check out our FAQ page.
